McLaren 50th Anniversary Reunion

The McLaren Old Boys and Girls Anniversary Dinner

In September 2013, former McLaren Formula 1 Team members Richard West and Matthew Jeffreys jointly organised a reunion for the McLaren Old Boys and Girls Association at the Hilton Hotel close to the iconic Goodwood racing circuit to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this most iconic of racing teams. Almost 300 people attended, many of them former and current McLaren staff, Drivers, sponsors, media and those associated with the team over the decades accompanied by family and friends.

This video is a reflection of that very special and unique event which saw Bruce McLaren’s widow and daughter with other family members attending along with a guests from New Zealand and Australia, many members of the Bruce McLaren Trust.

As host and master of ceremonies for the evening, it was my honour and great pleasure to interview many people who had dedicated their lives and careers to McLaren’s amazing successes in Formula 1, Indycar, Can-Am and sports car racing over the years.

The video was produced for general consumption by the public and especially for everyone who was present that night. The still photographs at the beginning of the programme feature many of the dedicated staff both past and present and the interviews give a unique insight into the team and it’s members who have jointly enjoyed so much success.
